This Mercedes-Benz 280 GE is a German delivery and was registered on October 7, 1980 to an entrepreneur from Eschelbronn (near Sinsheim). It is a very early car with the two-wing rear door and the car has the top-of-the-range 280 GE engine with 156 hp/115 KW. It is painted in its original agave green color, which is also the color of the 500,000th Mercedes G ever built.

I was no longer able to speak to the first owner, as he is no longer alive. But I was able to speak to an employee of his company before it closed a few years ago.

The employee confirmed to me that the first owner mainly used the car as a winter car and for hunting and that it was not driven much. He said that the 45,000 km on the five-digit odometer are most likely 145,000 km, but no more. However, there are no older records of the mileage. The engine is still the first original engine and the interior is original and in good condition. According to his employee, the first owner probably had the car until the 2000s.

According to the papers I have, the car was then registered in the Netherlands in 2006. Unfortunately, the first German papers are no longer available. I bought the car at the beginning of 2019 and had it inspected by TÜV and registered here in Germany. It has a H-season license plate and was no longer driven in winter.

From the outside and from the interior, everything looked very good when I bought it. The body had already been repainted, the rubber seals had been replaced and the usual rust spots had already been repaired.

I then had the body removed and had both the underbody repaired and the usual problem areas on the frame extensions and the shock absorber mounts replaced. In addition, various technical work was carried out, such as new brake hoses and lines, new tires, KE Jettronic adjustment, etc.

Later, I had the complete front axle replaced.

Finally, the underbody was sealed.

The interior is in beautiful condition. Seats, door panels, etc. are all original. The foot mat in the trunk is new.

I am selling it because I have since restored another classic off-roader and only want to keep one. I might also take another car in payment or exchange it preferably with a Porsche 997 Coupé. (also with value adjustment).

The car can be viewed at our premises in Germany, 33415 Verl at any time by arrangement. A lifting platform is available for this purpose.
