Here we offer a special exemplar of the 911 Targa. It is a former Porsche company car with extensive equipment and the transparent Targa roof from GTN Automotive.
The car dates from the model year 1987 and therefore features the lighter and more precise G50 five-speed transmission with the hydraulically operated clutch. In addition, the 911 from MY 87 were equipped with wider 195 front wheels and especially the Targa from then on had improved door seals and a rain bar.
The car was delivered on 12 September 1986 (MY 1987) in Grand Prix white with black leather seats. According to the corresponding Porsche certificate, the car was ordered as “own requirements of Porsche AG”, which explains the extensive equipment list:
M 018 Leather steering wheel with raised hub
M 058 Bumper with impact absorber
M 139 Seat heating left seat
M 220 limited slip differential
M 298 Parts for lead-free fuel system
M 340 Seat heater right seat
M 387 Sports seat right electric height adjustable
M 395 forged wheel 16″
M 425 Rear window wiper
M 462 Sekuriflex film for windscreen
M 474 Sport shock absorber
M 528 passenger side exterior mirror convex electric
M 559 Refrigeration system
M 686 Radio Blaupunkt “Ludwigsburg” (replaced by a more modern radio)
According to the previous owner, a Porsche fan from the Stuttgart area, an engine overhaul was carried out at a speedometer reading of 110,000 km, during which all wearing parts were replaced. However, this is not documented through invoices.
At the end of 2014 the car came to its current owner in Eastern Westphalia.
The owner had it serviced by the experienced Porsche workshop Hartmann&Köster in Bielefeld on a regular basis. To maintain the reliability of the car and its value, he has invested more than 26,500 Euros. All works are documented by invoices and include among others:
– a new windscreen
– new lenses
– conversion and refilling of the air conditioning system
– dry ice blasting of the subfloor
– renewal of starter, alternator and battery
– replacement of seals
– new painting of the front
– new tyres
He also had the engine optimised at the Porsche specialist Cartronic in Gummersbach at a mileage of 153,000. Among other things, a stainless steel sports catalytic converter and the LM32 engine kit were installed. This gives the unit higher torque, better traction and good engine running. According to “Motor Klassik” magazine, Walter Röhrl has also had precisely this optimisation carried out on his private 3.2-litre Carrera. As a result of these changes, the car now has 245 PS (180 kW). Everything has been inspected and registered by TÜV. Also, a certificate for the permission with H-Kennzeichen is present.
The original service booklet is available and has a total of 9 entries. Until 1994 and 77,140 km the maintenance took place directly with Porsche in Stuttgart and afterwards with two independent workshops in the environment of Stuttgart. The service in the last 5 years is documented by the above-mentioned invoices and will be added to the service booklet.
A special feature of this Targa is the transparent GTS-Top Targa roof. This was retrofitted and provides an excellent view and more light inside the car at any time of the year. With altogether 6,750 € an expensive, but very worthwhile extra. The very well-preserved original vinyl tarpaulin roof is of course also included.
A great specimen with a very good equipment and extensively overhauled technology.
The car is currently not yet with us but can be visited by arrangement with us in the vicinity.
