The Porsche 356 is an absolute design icon, especially in its very early variants.

This Porsche 356 1500 offered by me is one of the last pre-A from the year of construction 1955 and thus still an example with the sought-after bent window. It was delivered on 15.03.1955 by the French importer Sonauto in Paris. It is interesting to note that the first service recorded on the Kardex took place on 25.07.1955 at the Porsche dealer Hahn in Stuttgart.

The delivery colour was silver metallic with red leather and the car was equipped with the 1500 engine with 55 hp.

At a later date the car was exported to the USA. One of the previous owners wrote down the history and said that the car was shipped to the USA by an officer of the US Army back in the 1960s. Possibly the officer was even the first owner and travelled Europe with the car, which the service in Stuttgart would show.

In 1975, Porsche fan Ray Hanson from Bremerton in Washington State bought it. The car had been repainted orange in the meantime and the engine and transmission had been removed.

During a year abroad by the new owner, the car was restored to roadworthy condition by a German mechanic in Bremerton, Helmut’s Auto-Repair. At this time a 1600 engine with 75 hp was fitted.

After 7 years he sold it in 1982 to Portland, further south, to Mr Kirk Coughlin.

He kept the car for many years and had the car painted to its current colour and restored the body, transmission and interior.

Interestingly, Ray Hanson bought the car back in 1998 and only sold it 15 years later in 2013 to the last owner in the USA: Jonathan Schneiderman from Santa Cruz, California.

He owned the car for one year before selling it to a well-known Porsche engine specialist in Germany.

The current owner acquired the vehicle from this specialist in 2015 and had a type-correct 1500 engine of type 546/2 rebuilt and mounted in the vehicle by Mr. Ferdinand Kühn, Freudenberg. In addition, 5,182 Euros were invested in the car’s mechanics recently.

The car can be inspected by appointment. A lifting platform is of course also available for this purpose.
