This 1991 VW Golf Cabriolet is an example from the sporty special series “Sportline”. The Sportline models were characterized above all by a decidedly sporty interior. The seats were black-red Recaro sport seats, the steering wheel was a three-spoke sport steering wheel with red stitching and the pointers of the instruments were also red, in contrast to the standard white pointers.

In terms of performance, the 1.8 liter engine with 82 kW (112 hp) was the end of the line in the series, which already provided decent performance for the car, which weighed just under 1 ton. Those who wanted more power, however, were served by VW only in the sedans, where the top model GTI G60 was available in the Golf 2, which was built in parallel. This was clearly above the normal GTI and offered with 160 hp (118 kw) a significantly higher performance.

The installation of the G60 engine in the convertible is therefore obvious, but was not done very often due to the expense.

This example we offer had an extensively overhauled G60 engine installed a few years ago, which was also registered. In order to decelerate the significant increase in power, larger brakes were installed on the front axle. Due to the larger brake system from the Golf 3 VR6, larger rims were also necessary and so the 16 inch BBS cross spoke rims from the VR6 were installed.

The body was completely repainted in the original color 2 years ago and the car got a completely new top in best quality at the Cabrio Zentrum Osnabrück.

The car is accordingly in a very nice condition.

The car can be viewed at any time by appointment with us in 33415 Verl. A lifting platform is of course available for this purpose.
